Coal Miner’s Sheet Cake Cookbook

1 Box Devil’s food chocolate cake mix (Cake)
1 Cup Cheery pie filling from a 21 oz. can (save the rest for topping
(Cake))
2 Eggs (Cake1 )
1 Tablespoon Vanilla extract (Cake)
1 Stick Butter (Topping)
1/4 Cup Evaporated milk (Topping)
1 Cup Sugar (Topping)
6 Ounces Chocolate chips (Topping)
1/2 Cup Pecans (Topping)
1 Remainder of canned cherry pie filling (Topping)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cake: Mix together cake ingredients — box mix, cherry pie
filling, eggs and vanilla — and pour into a 13-by-9-inch pan. Bake in
preheated oven for 30 minutes.
Topping: In a saucepan combine the butter, evaporated milk
and sugar, and bring to a boil. Stir in the chocolate chips and pecans,
as well as the remainder of the cherry pie filling left in the 21-ounce
can after using a cup of the filling in the cake. Pour topping over
cake while both the cake and the topping are still hot. Serve with
vanilla ice cream.
